Serum or Plasma, one gold (SST), red, green (PST) or lavender (K2 EDTA) top tube

Handling

Centrifuge serum or plasma, separate from clot and pour into a plastic tube. Specimen must be removed from clot or red blood cells prior to freezing.

Grossly hemolyzed, microbial contamination, heat inactivated, pooled

Stability

AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Ambient (20-25°C): 2 days; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 7 days. Specimens which are not tested within 7 days must be stored frozen (-20°C or colder).
