Preferred: heparinized syringe. 5 mL lithium heparin non PST

Handling

Whole blood should be placed on ice immediately and brought to lab within 15 minutes for preparation and testing. Stable 5 minutes at room temperature.

Grossly hemolyzed specimens, specimens left on cells for more than 15 minutes.
