Guidelines

Assay is Performed Using Roche Diagnostic's Third Generation PSA reagents.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum or Plasma; SST is preferred. Plain red, PST or EDTA tubes are also acceptable.

Handling

Allow serum to clot completely at room temperature (minimum: 30 minutes). Centrifuge and separate serum from cells ASAP.

0.3 mL

Refrigerated (2-8°C)

Rejection Criteria

Grossly hemolyzed specimens.  Serum or plasma that has not been separated from the cells within 2 hours of collection.

Stability

AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Ambient (20-25°C): 8 hours; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 5 Days; Frozen (at or below -20°C): 6 months
