Specimen Collection Requirements

Patient Preparation

Patients on oral anticoagulants will have decreased protein free S values. Patients should be off oral anticoagulant therapy for 2 weeks for accurate measurement of free protein s levels.

Collect

Platelet-Poor Plasma, one light blue (sodium citrate) top tube

Handling

CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. For specimen collection and handling requirements, refer to Coagulation Specimen Collection Guidelines.
