Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum or Plasma, one 4.0 mL serum separator tube, 3.0 mL lavender (EDTA) or green (sodium or lithium heparin) top tube

Handling

Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature (minimum 30 minutes). Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP. Sample must be drawn before surgery or more than two days following surgery. Do not draw in the recovery room. EDTA plasma is acceptable if removed from cells ASAP.
