Specimen Collection Requirements

Patient Preparation

Abstain from medications for 72 hours prior to collection.

Collect

Whole Blood, one 4.0 mL lavender (EDTA) top tube

Handling

Place on ice. Transfer 3.0 mL whole blood to a Serotonin Transport Tube containing ascorbic acid. Contact Legacy Client Services for tube. Mix well. Specimen must be preserved and frozen within 2 hours of collection. CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
