Cholyglycine - Bile Salts
Used to detect hepatobiliary dysfunction. Do not order to detect inborn errors of bile acid metabolism. May aid in the diagnosis of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy.
Specimen Collection Requirements
Patient must be fasting for a minimum of 8 hours
Serum, one gold (SST) top tube
Allow serum to clot completely at room temperature (minimum 30 minutes). Centrifuge and separate serum from cells. Transfer 1 mL serum to an aliquot tube.
0.5 mL Serum (whole blood 1.2 mL minimum draw)
Heparinized specimens, hemolyzed specimens, non-fasting specimens, or body fluids
AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Room Temperature (18-26°C): 8 hours; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 2 weeks; Frozen (≤ -20°C): 3 months
