Specimen Collection Requirements
Serum, one 5.0 mL gold (SST) top tube
Separate serum from cells ASAP. Acute and convalescent specimens must be labeled as such. Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens. Please mark specimens plainly as Acute or Convalescent.
Severely lipemic, contaminated, heat-inactivated or hemolyzed specimens
AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year

Reference Values
If Bordetella pertussis Antibody, IgA by ELISA is 1.2 U/mL or greater, then Bordetella pertussis IgA Immunoblot testing will be added; if Bordetella pertussis Antibody, IgG by ELISA is 1.0 U/mL or greater, then Bordetella pertussis IgG Immunoblot testing will be added; If Bordetella pertussis Antibody, IgM by ELISA is 1.2 U/mL or greater, then Bordetella pertussis IgM Immunoblot testing will be added.
