Specimen Collection Requirements
Body fluid, one sterile container. Do not use tubes with anti-coagulant. Indicate source of body fluid on the collection container and test request form. If more than one tube is collected, each tube should be labeled with a number indicating the sequence in which it was collected.
If cellular material is present, centrifuge specimen and remove supernatant within four hours of collection.
Gastric fluids, fluids collected with anti-coagulant, fluids from sources outside the body, and intraosseous specimens will not be accepted.
Room Temperature (18-26°C): 24 hours, Refrigerated (2-8°C): 7 days, Frozen (≤ -20°C): 1 month
