Patient must be properly identified before blood product administration. See the LHS Blood Administration policy. Storage Frozen at <-18°C. Thawed product stored at room temperature (20-24°C). Factor VIII concentrate is the preferred therapy for hemophilia A and for von Willebrand's disease. Dosage Usual adult hemostatic dose is 8-10 bags, which should raise fibrinogen levels by 70-100 mg/dL. If fibrinogen <50 mg/dL give 20 units.
