Patient Preparation

Decontaminate site with scrub/prep, use aseptic collection during aspiration.

Amniotic Fluid

Handling

Aspirate fluid into sterile tightly sealed container, sterile-capped syringe with needle removed, anaerobic transport tube or blood culture bottles. When using blood culture bottles, wipe septum with alcohol before inserting fluid.
