Mnemonic

CCP

Synonym

CCP - Anti-CCP

Guidelines

Do not order CCP on previously collected specimens since repeated freeze/thaw cycles affect test results (NO “ADD-ONS”).

Specimen Collection Requirements

Collect

Serum, one 5.0 mL gold (SST) or 7.0 mL red top tube

View image for Supply Item Number - 101235 or 101192

Handling

Allow serum to clot completely at room temperature (minimum: SST – 30 minutes and red top tubes – 60 minutes). Centrifuge and separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection.

If additional testing is ordered, CCP must be submitted as a separate frozen aliquot from other testing.

Preferred Volume

1.0 mL Serum

Minimum Volume

0.5 mL Serum (1.2 mL minimum whole blood draw)

Transport

Frozen (≤ -20°C)

Rejection Criteria

Grossly hemolyzed specimens, plasma, samples that have undergone more than one freeze-thaw

Stability

AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Room Temperature (18-26°C): 8 hours; Refrigerated (2-8°C): 48 hours; Frozen (≤ -20°C): 1 month, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles

Testing Information

Performed
