Guidelines

THIS PRESUMPTIVE PANEL IS AVAILABLE TO EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS ONLY.

Confirmation testing may be ordered as indicated after receiving presumptive results.

A Broad Spectrum Drug Panel (U DS BSPEC) that detects hundreds of prescription drugs is available as an add on.

Specimen Collection Requirements

Urine, one sterile container

Handling

Specimens with high turbidity must be centrifuged before analysis. Frozen specimens must be thawed and mixed thoroughly prior to analysis.

Legacy Laboratory Services has validated the use of urine specimens with the Tricyclic Antidepressants assay. Urine has not been approved or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use with the serum Tricyclic Antidepressants assay. Legacy is authorized under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) to perform high-complexity testing.
