HELICOBACTER PYLORI RAPID UREA
This test is used for the presumptive diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection from gastric biopsies. Have CLO test slide available at the time of the biopsy for immediate inoculation.
Specimen Collection Requirements
Discontinue antibiotic and bismuth use 3 weeks before biopsy. Discontinue proton pump inhibitors 2 weeks before biopsy.
Biopsy at least 2 cm away from pylorus along the lesser or greater curve of the antrum
Use a standard biopsy forcep, push biopsy into gel on CLO test slide. Make sure the biopsy is completely immersed in gel. Record time of inoculation on the slide. CLO test slides are available from Legacy Laboratories. Store at 2-8°C.
