Specimen Collection Requirements
Plasma, two 4.0 mL lavender (EDTA) top tube
Centrifuge EDTA whole blood within 6 hours of collection. Remove plasma and transfer specimen to two labeled polypropylene screw-capped tubes. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Contaminated or severely lipemic specimens
ON CELLS: Ambient: 6 hours. AFTER SEPARATION FROM CELLS: Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: 4 months
Testing Information
Must have current HIV viral load to perform HIV genotype testing.
