Handling

All containers must be labeled with the patient’s first and last name and a second patient identifier, such as a date of birth. Liquid based Pap fixative vials should be submitted with the caps securely tightened to avoid leakage.

Rejection Criteria

Unlabeled, expired or frozen specimens will be rejected.

Stability

Specimens may be stored at 2-30°C for up to 4 weeks.
