Serum, one 5.0 mL gold (SST) or 7.0 mL red top tube

Handling

Allow serum tubes to clot completely at room temperature (minimum - SST: 30 minutes, red top tubes: 60 minutes). Centrifuge and separate serum from cells ASAP.

In men with a total PSA between 4.1-10 ng/mL, equal to or greater than 25% free PSA is associated with a low risk of prostate cancer. Free PSA values less than 25% are associated with an increased risk of cancer (95% sensitivity for prostate cancer detection).
