Reported

24-72 hours

Method

Chemiluminescent Immunoassay

Reference Values

Reference Values

Rubella, IgG (IU/mL)

Interpretation

Comments

0 to 9.9 IU/mL

Nonreactive

Patients are considered to have an absence of immunity.

10.0 to 14.9 IU/mL

Equivocal

Studies suggest that vaccinated individuals having these low levels of anti-Rubella IgG do show a secondary immune response following re-vaccination but have not been challenged with wild rubella virus.14 A follow-up sample should be taken to further evaluate immune status. If the repeat sample is still equivocal, the sample may require testing by alternate methods.

≥15.0 IU/mL

Reactive

Patients are considered to have anti-Rubella IgG present and indicate acute or past infection, or vaccination.
