Collect

Specimen types include Pericardial fluid, Peritoneal/Ascites, Pleural/Thoracentesis, Abdominal fluid, and Pelvic fluid

Handling

Submit original collection container with complete volume when possible. Submit ASAP to Cytology during routine hours. If other studies are requested submit sample to the Clinical Lab for handling and processing. Fresh and unfixed samples are optimal. If delay is unavoidable, refrigerate the specimen.
