Specimen Collection Requirements

Patient Preparation

Patient collected vaginal swab specimens are acceptable, but application is limited to collection at healthcare facilities under the guidance of trained healthcare providers.

Handling

Use the Xpert Vaginal/Endocervical Specimen Collection Kit for vaginal and endocervical specimens: CTNG & TV Swab Lawson #372282 and the Xpert Urine Specimen Collection Kit for urine: CTNG &TV Urine Transport Lawson # 372283

Preferred Volume

Fill the urine specimen collection container up to the dotted line. Approx. 7.0 mLs.

Rejection Criteria

Any vaginal swab or endocervical swab that is not in the Xpert Swab transport reagent. Any specimen past stability. Bloody Swabs. Under filled or over filled Urine Transport Reagent containers. Frozen Specimens.

Stability

Male and female urine in Xpert Urine Transport Reagent: 28 days at 2-8°C, 14 days at 15-30°C.
Male or female urine in plain urine cup: 4 days at 2-8° C, 4 hours at 15-30°C 
Endocervical swab and Vaginal swab in Xpert Swab Transport Reagent: 60 days at 2-30°C.
