Specimen Collection Requirements

Patient Preparation

Draw specimen following an overnight (12-hour) fast. Patient should not consume alcohol for one day before blood draw.

Collect

Plasma or Serum, one 4.0 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin) or gold (SST) top tube

Handling

Separate serum or plasma within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to transport tube immediately. (Min: 0.2 mL) Avoid hemolysis.
