$5 Million gift launches expansion of services
CARES Northwest recently received a transformational gift of $5 million from an anonymous donor to expand medical assessments and evaluations, trauma-focused therapy, prevention programs and establish a pediatric child abuse fellowship program over the next four years. This gift – the largest donation to any child abuse program in Oregon – will give CARES Northwest the necessary resources to help hundreds more children, reduce wait times for services and strengthen prevention efforts. On behalf of the community, we thank this generous donor for investing in the lives of our most vulnerable.
Join us in the effort to end child abuse. Your gift, of any size, will help sustain this vital program expansion well into the future. To make a tax-deductible donation, please use our online donation form.
Our mission is to stop child abuse and neglect. Not slow it down or reduce it. But, to end it!
Child Abuse and Response Evaluation Services (CARES) Northwest is a collaborative, community-based medical program of Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, Kaiser Permanente, OHSU-Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and Providence Health & Services that serves children for whom there are concerns of abuse or neglect. Contributions to CARES Northwest help to cover the cost of medical evaluations and assessments for the more than 1,300 children seen at CARES Northwest each year for concerns of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and/or exposure to domestic violence. In this time of financial strain in our community, fewer families have the resources to seek medical or other family support services. Through your generosity, CARES Northwest is able to provide therapeutic intervention to all children when there is a concern they have been abused, regardless of their family's ability to pay. Matching challenge helps leverage support for CARES Northwest
As you consider your charitable donations this year, we hope you will consider giving back to CARES Northwest and doubling your impact with a special matching challenge. The Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund – whose mission is to relieve the misfortune and promote the well-being of mankind – awarded CARES Northwest a $100,000 challenge grant to match each new gift of $1,000 or more with $1,000. This two-year challenge runs through Dec. 31, 2015. “We are honored that the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund trustees have chosen to support CARES Northwest in this important way,” said Kevin Dowling, CARES Northwest program manager.
