Gifts from the heart: Legacy donates socks
Legacy Health employees have collected more than 20,000 pairs of socks for those in need this holiday season. The Legacy annual sock drive concluded this past week. The socks are now being distributed to 21 charitable organizations in the region.
Together, a big impact
"We know socks are needed and appreciated," said Legacy Health employee Veronika Azurdia Maza who works at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. "It seems like a small contribution individually but together we can have a big impact." She collected 249 pairs of socks. As a part-time Zumba instructor she encouraged her students to bring a pair to class.
Information Services leads the way
The IS Department at Legacy Health gathered the most socks from a single department; 4,535.
The socks will be shared among 21 charitable community partners who work with people who are homeless and those experiencing economic hardship.
