Legacy Health has been named a “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” in the 2019 Health Equality Index (HEI) for the third year in a row. All six Legacy medical centers, plus Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel and Unity Center for Behavioral Health, scored a perfect 100, completing a rigorous review of training, policies and practices.

HEI is the national group that evaluates equity and inclusion of the LGBTQ community in health care.

What does this mean in practice? “For patients, we provide affirming care and increased access to services,” explains Kathryn Correia, Legacy president and CEO. “For our employees, we provide education to better serve LGBTQ patients.

“Our genuine commitment to providing sensitive, respectful, judgment-free care for everyone is what sets us apart.”
