About Me:

My clinical interest is in the improvement of my patients' lives through personalized compassionate care, with an emphasis on preservation and restoration of vision and eye health. I fulfill this interest through the comprehensive management of a wide variety of eye-related health conditions. These conditions range from highly acute issues like ophthalmic trauma, angle closure, and ocular inflammation, through more chronic diseases like diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. I also enjoy seeing healthy eyes, where I have the opportunity to educate my patients on how to maintain excellent eye health. One of my favorite things to do for my patients is cataract surgery. Cataract surgery can safely and effectively restore sight to an otherwise visually-disabled eye. Even better, with only a slight modification in technique and instrumentation, I can take cataract surgery to developing countries and help tackle one of the worlds leading causes of curable blindness.

Attendant in front office was so nice. The attendant that prepped me for the doctor was just great. WE had a great conversation, lots of fun. The office is comfortable, good chairs and lots of magazines to look at . Great time.

I got to my appt 5-10 minutes early. There were SIX people who arrived AFTER me (with later appt times than I), yet all were seen before me. I waited for OVER AN HOUR in the lobby. I had to ask after the 5th person behind me was taken back. No one thought to give me an update on my status. Apparently the Doctor who saw me, wasn't even the Doctor I was scheduled with...it was a resident. I was at the office for 2 hours total and I got only the last 10 minutes with the actual Doctor. VERY BAD SERVICE and would not recommend this office to anyone.

Good experience with the Doctor, he explained all options and told me to contact him with anymore changes to my vision as cataract surgery would be needed when that happened.

Dr. Acohido's staff were great! I don't recall the receptionist's name, but she was friendly and helpful! Jarod did my vision testing etc. and I felt that he really enjoyed his job! Dr. Acohido was great as always, and his scheduler Cristina Flores was super, going over the days and plans for repairing my cataracts. All in all a pleasant experience.

I had to wait more than 30 minutes to see the provider on this visit, which made me exhausted. This was the first time I waited this long. The clerk said there was a delay when I asked him how much longer I had to wait.

Dr. Acohido is the best eye doctor I've ever had - I'm [age deleted]. Always cheerful, which calms my anxiety. He answers all my questions and explain things easy for me to understand. Surgery went wonderfully. No pain, no anxiety, totally calm because of him.

The receptionist bordered on rude. 2 diff receptionists, the first time I came in she was terrible, this time she bordered on really bad and rude. The nurse who worked in the office with the Dr. was very thorough but also not very friendly or customer oriented. The Dr. was the best. Great personality and very informative.

This was my first time appointment with Dr. Blake Acohido. My previous Dr relocated. He is personable, knowledge and a good egg. The receptionist, Rebecca Linda, is great. Before leaving, she asks pertinent questions to assure I received information for follow-up I needed. And Ashley Ostermiller, the Optamologist assistant... super. Her preliminary testing and questioning lead to further unexpected (on my part) examination by the Dr. Major thank you to Ashley.

The phone system for Devers Eye Clinic is horrible. I called to find out if my eyes would be dilated. put on hold then sent to an automated system that said if I had a medical question to hang up and call again. Did so and got the same automated message telling me to leave a message and I would receive a response in 2 days. this is unacceptable. I love Dr Acohido, but am looking for another opthamologist out of your system. To not be able to get through to talk with someone is the worst of customer service.

Overall this office is amazing. However, I did walk away from my appt feeling like the MA who roomed me and did my check in, was a bit short and seemed like she didn't want to be there. She was NOT rude, just distant and not friendly.

This was the first time in my life at an eye checkup that the dr did not put my head in the chin rest machie and check my eyes thru that. The assistant checked what I could read and I guess it was deduced with my glasses on I had 20/20 vision, but I found it very strange to not have the full exam to see if I needed a different tweak in my prescription. I went back two days later to meet with another dr about a contact lens fitting and she measured my eyes and they did in fact change a pinch. It would have been good to have him do it so that my prescription was up to date, but MAYBE he did not do it since he knew I was going to go to the contact fitting dr? I am not sure. thanks.

Before I saw the doctor, I was seen by a technician who hurriedly rushed through the eye tests. This is new to me as the doctor had done this in the past. I do not appreciate being rushed through an exam.

Appointment was for my annual glaucoma checkup. Appointments are divided into two, which is difficult given my work schedule. Also, the confirming robo-message for my first appointment clearly said my eyes would be dilated, which was my understanding and preference, since it was my day off. When I arrived, I was told that in fact my eyes would be dilated at the second appointment, which is on a day I worked. This was not my understanding. Since I do considerable driving, having my eyes dilated on that second appointment was a hardship. That was not made clear to me (or obviously to the robo-confirmation message).

I know this provider is not yet on Kaleidoscope, but when I have a health issue with my eyes it would be nice to have had content on my AVS. The dx, the cause (if applicable), the treatment, warning signs, etc.

Was called back for my 2:30 appointment at 3:20, which caused problems for my spouse and children and is the reason I can't recommend my excellent provider to my spouse (and I had to rush through the visit). If I had it to do over I would have rescheduled and left after half an hour. I know things happen and I should have advocated for myself better. But I would like to see the office do better at communicating with patients and each other when things go wrong.

I had to wait an extra month for an appointment because mine was cancelled due to snow/ice related closing by your office. I have a little trouble with the electronic medical record etc. but will figure it out. Dr. was exceptional and I really appreciated his focus.

when getting my eyes dilated, vision is slightly impaired afterwards so transportation is a good idea. fortunately I was able to arrange that for myself.

I feel I got very good care during this visit. It is a shame that Medicaid didn't cover it and I had to pay out of pocket. I would strongly encourage your organization to support single payer health care. If I had not put off seeking services in the hopes of getting vision coverage, my risk factors for glaucoma could have been found earlier and any needed treatment started earlier.

My previous provider left the practice and I was given to Dr. Acohido. I was very pleased with my interactions with him. He was personable, efficient and professional. It appeared that the care team was well organized and everyone was working appropriately for their role. I would definitely recommend Dr. Acohido and I hope he doesn't leave the practice.
