Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

"We have the ability to help our patients minute by minute, and hour by hour."
Patrick Lewallen, M.D., Medical Director, Randall Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

When your newborn is ill or premature you need the peace of mind that comes from knowing everything possible is being done to care for your child. Our specialty nurses and doctors are dedicated to providing your infant with the highest quality care available. Rest assured that our team is passionate about your child's health.

What is the NICU?

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is dedicated to caring for critically ill and premature infants. All care is evidence-based, designed and continually updated according to national and international best practices, and represents the leading edge of knowledge on how to best care for fragile newborns. We care for infants born up to 16 weeks early to 28 days old including premature babies, multiples and the very ill. We even have babies weighing under a pound.

Our NICU services are offered at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Northeast Portland and at Legacy Salmon Creek in Vancouver, Washington.
