BLS Certification

  • If you are a Legacy employee, AHA BLS certification is required for those with direct patient contact (see Legacy Mandatory Education Policy 500.810).
  • Cost: There is a $34 fee payable to the AHA.

Overview

PALS scenarios require that your BLS skills and knowledge are current and all students must demonstrate high-quality, basic life skills. All students will participate in BLS skills validation whether or not they are seeking BLS certification as a part of the PALS course day. The course day is the same length whether or not a chooses to also obtain a BLS certification. To obtain an AHA BLS Provider Card as a part of the course day, there are two options:

1. Holders of a current AHA BLS Providers Certification card that would like to renew, should bring their current AHA BLS Provider Card to the course and arrive prepared to complete the BLS written test at the end of the course day.

2. Those that do not have current AHA BLS certification must complete the AHA HeartCode BLS online module prior to attending this course and bring a printed AHA BLS course completion certificate from the AHA site to the course to complete the certification process. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions.
