An abundance of pleasures

Located between the Cascade Mountains and the shores of the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver, Washington offers its residents an abundance of pleasures: Indoor and outdoor recreational activities, shopping at locally owned boutiques, and a wealth of culinary options at the newly developed Vancouver Waterfront. The location also provides easy day trips to the coast, the mountains, the Columbia River Gorge, and to Portland, Oregon.



113 parks and 20 miles of trails

Vancouver is home to over 113 parks and 20 miles of trails.  Hiking opportunities abound within short drives of the city throughout the Columbia River Gorge and the Cascade Range foothills. Kayakers and water enthusiasts enjoy exploring the many scenic rivers and lakes the area has to offer. In the winter, a quick drive up to Mt. Hood provides many snowy adventures, including skiing, snowshoeing, and snow tubing.  Another nearby peak, Mt. St. Helens, is open to mountain climbers during the summer months.



Outdoor fun

The greater Vancouver area boasts dozens of popular vineyards and wineries. While the wineries are open year-round for tasting and dining, many locations also offer summer events such as outdoor concerts, movies on the lawn, and trivia nights.



Esther Short Park

From late spring to fall, Esther Short Park hosts the Vancouver Farmer’s Market, offering artisanal goods, prepared foods, and fresh produce and plants. The Summer Concert Series is also held here several days a week during the months of July and August. Music lovers enjoy live big-name concerts held at the Sunlight Supply Amphitheater and year-round performances from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra that always please.



Weather

Vancouver residents enjoy a mild climate with distinct seasons. Winters are cool and cloudy with temperatures rarely falling below freezing temperatures. The city typically sees around 42 inches of annual rainfall. The Pacific Northwest climate boasts beautiful summers that are warm and dry with clear blue skies.
