Research Focus:

As Legacy Health’s Director of Clinical Research, Dr. Demirel leads, promotes and guides clinical, population-based, and health economics outcomes research studies that seek to improve the end results of healthcare for Legacy patients, and for patients around the country and around the world.

The main measure of success in this area of research is demonstration of benefits to our patients and society, but also arrival of these outcomes at a reasonable, sustainable cost. To meet these goals, we set up and conduct cross-sectional and longitudinal outcomes studies at Legacy Health to assess the impact of healthcare transformation on patient and population-based outcomes as well as health economics. Dr. Demirel provides expert consultation in the design and planning of studies and the use of outcomes research tools to perform evidence-based, comparative effectiveness assessment of changes in the provision of healthcare at Legacy Health.
