Residents progress to the competent level quickly, safely and effectively.
About the program
Designed by nurses for nurses, the Legacy Health RN Residency Program prepares newly graduated nurses by organizing and overseeing all aspects of your transition. Throughout the program you'll be supported both professionally and emotionally by a network of senior nurses who act as preceptors, mentors and debriefers.
Legacy Health's RN Residency Program is an 18-week program comprised of core curriculum and guided clinical experience.
- Twenty-five percent of your program will focus on our core curriculum, with courses featuring current and emerging clinical guidelines and standards, labs and simulations.
- The remaining 75 percent will be guided clinical experience led by expert preceptors at the bedside.
- With proven success, after just 18 weeks you will achieve the same competence and self-assurance as a nurse who has been in practice for 18 months
As an RN Resident you will be hired into a specific unit at one of Legacy Health's six medical centers. Units of hire are based on candidate preference, as well as available openings in the department.
Residency specialty areas may include:
Acute care (Med/Surg):
- Trauma Services
- Behavioral health
- IV therapy
- Wound care
- Women's health
- Critical care/ICU
