Legacy values innovation. We provide the equipment necessary for our caregivers and patients to have great experiences.
We care for our nurses by giving them what they need to protect their bodies. Every appropriate unit throughout our system has e-lifts. The lifts help nurses by reducing back strain. They also help move patients more quickly and comfortably.
Electronic communication boards
We are the first health care system on the West Coast to invest in Awarix Real Time Patient Care Communication Boards. This technology makes life easier for staff nurses. It uses HIPAA-compliant symbols to show the status of every patient and room on a unit. Nurses no longer need to find a chart or look for orders in the electronic medical record. They simply need to glance at the board to find out a patient's status (observation, new orders or discharged) and room status (clean, dirty or occupied).
Electronic medical records
Epic is our electronic medical records system. Electronic medical records provide an extra level of patient safety with their standardized functions and workflows.
Medications on Legacy patient care units are distributed by the all-Pyxis model. The Pyxis medication profile is linked to the electronic medical record and provides pharmacist order review and verification. Using Pyxis, caregivers are able to print out complete, timed transaction records to double-check charting accuracy.
Carl Peterson Clinical Education Center
The 4,500 square-foot Carl Peterson Clinical Education Center is one of the leading providers of hospital-based clinical education in the region. The center features classrooms, simulation labs, clinical suites and a kitchen used for catering seminars and workshops. The center has one of the most sophisticated simulation labs in Portland. There are three SimMan mannequins, a birthing simulator, a neonate simulator and a child simulator.
We also use the center for orientations, in-services, continuing education courses, leadership development classes, skills and electronic documentation training sessions.
