Celebrating our NICU graduates
On Saturday, July 15, more than 450 children and parents joined Randall Children's Hospital staff, nurses, and physicians, to celebrate our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) graduates at the hospital's annual NICU Family Reunion.
The event was held at the hospital with an abundance of activities from bunnies, a bounce house and face painting to grilled cheese bites, an ice cream truck and coffee treats. So much fun was had by all.
The NICU at Randall Children's is dedicated to caring for critically ill and premature infants born up to 16 weeks early to 28 days old. With specialty nurses and doctors providing the highest quality care, families receive the most up-to-date and leading-edge care for their newborns.
“Randall Children's Hospital lobby and outdoor area were transformed into an amazing space for patients, families, and staff to connect and share," said Patrick Lewallen, M.D., Medical Director, Randall Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. "How fun to watch parents show off their NICU graduates and tell stories about how the NICU changed their lives. Families shared memories of their care teams and experiences they had during their visit that truly meant the world to them.”
Special thanks to all our community partners that attended the event: Portland Fire, Portland Police and Bomb Squad, KIDS Team ambulance, Randall Children's Hospital Foundation, NICU Family Advisory Council, Northwest Mother’s Milk Bank, Legacy Lactation, and NICU Families
An extra special shout-out to our friends who donated back to Randall Children's Hospital: NW Dutch Bros, Franz Bakery Grilled Cheese Machine, and Heights Ice Cream.
