Patient Rating

Legacy wants every patient to have great care, every time. To help measure and improve patient satisfaction, we send surveys to randomly selected patients after their appointments. We use this feedback from the surveys to improve and enhance the care we offer. It works like this: Real patients give us feedback through Press Ganey, a patient satisfaction survey company. They verify and confirm the results. National Research Corporation, an independent company, provides the technology to show the ratings and comments on our website

Dr. Dempster is awesome. I saw him as a specialist and he spent time researching my history so he knew exactly what I was there for. I feel very confident with him

[details deleted to protect privacy] So in his [age deleted to protect privacy] years we have SEEN A LOT of neurologists. Dr. Dempster is one of the better ones once we established a patient/parent/physician relationship.

I considered this follow up appointment to be a waste of my time, energy and expenses. There was nothing to report and nothing new to add to my diagnosis aka medical condition. This could easily have been resolved with a simple telephone conversation. Everything I needed to know I obtained during my unnecessary and lengthy hospital visit.

I found Dr. Dempster to be very well informed about my condition which is very hard to find. in all the years that I have had this he seemed to know exactly what I go through and told me more about my condition than anyone ever has

The office of neurology had moved up the street since my last visit - and when I got a reminder about the visit no one told me the office had moved. I got to the appointment early only to be able to not find the office. I had to call and get directions and was late to the appointment as a result. Would have liked a call to let me know where the new office was located - resulted in a lot of confusion and stress. Otherwise the visit was great - the staff and doctor always treat me with the utmost respect and care.

I got the feeling that he might have been a little exasperated that I came up. could have been my feelings only since I had been feeling lousy and he had already told me in the phone what he though was wrong but the adjusted medication dose was not enough. he agreed that he did need to be more aggressive with correcting and eliminated my meds and dosages that he had hoped to be able to do to lessen any withdrawal symptoms. his direction for my care is faultless.

This was my first visit to Dr. Dempster. I liked him very much and his office staff was great. There was a fire alarm in the middle of my visit and we all had to evacuate the building. This shortened the visit somewhat, and gave me less time with Dr. Dempster than I would have liked. But this was not anybody's fault.

Epilepsy is a new condition for me so I have questions. Questions that I'm either told there is no answer for or Dempster says there is not enough time in our visit. If there's not enough time then our visits are pointless. I feel because I had so many questions he didn't want to answer me quickly referred me to his colleague. That doesn't make me feel he cares.

This doctor is egocentric with an egotistical attitude. He acts like he walks on water. [comment deleted to protect privacy]

I wish when the appointment was made that I'd been told that Dr. Dempster's office had moved from bldg # 3 to bldg#1. Fortunately, I had arrived early enough for our appointment that walking the block from the other office location was not a major problem. [name deleted] was feeling well enough that he didn't complain about the walk in the rain. We were familiar with bldg #1 as [name deleted] first neurologist, Dr. Schimschock had his office in that building when we first began to see him in 1988.

Dr. Dempster was extraordinarily rude and definitely mistook me for some other patient - insisting that I "begged" for painkillers and tranquilizers - which is not true in the least. I hate tranquilizers, and I already have ample painkillers from my regular provider. He was angry and refused t9 even talk to me! I have NEVER had such a bad experience with a doctor. We had seen Dr. Dempster twice in the past for neurology visit for early onset Alzheimers, providing past records and diagnosis. He replaced the two other neurologists in Vancouver. We saw him there for the first visit and then the second was in Portland. At no time did he mention he only treated patients with seizures and epilepsy. In fact, he agreed with our plan to have [name deleted] participate in a program at OHSU which we have yet to do. He said [name deleted] would not be helped by meds at the time but might in the future. On our last report he said to return to him if things changed for the worse. They have accelerated in the past six months so we went for help. He was very cordial and polite but our time and his was wasted. Very disappointing. Why go through the drill of the tech or RN testing her cognitive skills if he didn't treat her condition? Why not refer us to a Vancouver neurologist when he left? Why didn't he mention his line of neurology the first two appointments? Yes, it was a bad experience from a nice man. We felt his empathy. That's not enough. Honesty would have been better.

Dr. Dempster was very personable, and immediately impressed me as being very interested in helping me find what my problem was, and not just throwing medicine at it. I appreciated his sense of humor and thoroughness in diagnosing the problem. He addressed previous care for this issue without dismissing other providers. I feel very confident in his ability to help me overcome this problem. By sending me for additional testing, I know he really wants to verify his diagnosis by gathering supporting evidence. I would certainly refer others to his care. I was escorted to the receptionist and was scheduled for my next appointment before I left the office. The entire staff at this office was professional, courteous, and helpful. It was a pleasure to be seen.

Dr. Dempster and I have an excellent doctor-patient relationship. He is a great listener, concerned, and seems extremely knowledgeable, yet he explains issues clearly and plainly without a lot of technical medical talk. He's also a good conversationalist in general. We always have nice talks when I visit, and he remembers more about me than just my medical record. I have brain cancer and so I have had many doctors over the years. Dr. Dempster is among the top. Count me very satisfied.

This provider recommended that [name deleted to protect privacy]urgently needed to go to the Emergency Department for immediate further testing. We did exactly what he told us and took her to the Legacy ED nearby. Unfortunately, what happened after that was extremely unsatisfying. Trying to communicate back with Dr. Dempster to find out what to do turned out to be impossible. VERY UNHAPPY.

Dr. dempster did not explain what he was doing, thinking in any of our appointments so my fiance and i are always confused at the end of our visit. Dempster has not tried to understand who I am as a person. he made a judgement based on how I was acting during the appointments. I was irritable and upset about how I was treated. I explained to him that I was having partial seizures for 10 weeks, constantly with no recovery time. he looked at me and said your just experiencing the effects of being anxious depressed and irritable. I'm not, I was angry at him and the attitude he had with my fiance and i during the previous appointment he stated to us that there was no point for us to be there. I'm tired of his ego and arrogance.
