I have a relatively unique background in surgery. I was recruited to come to Portland in 1997 by Surgical Associates to become an all around General Surgeon similar to my mentor and surgical giant, Larry Eidemiller. I initially began my career doing all sorts of surgery ranging from vascular reconstructions, to breast, to head and neck, to colorectal. I was young and brought a fresh outlook to the group including the liberal use of laparoscopy. I grew and learned immensely from Dr. Eidemiller, but as time went on and the era of surgical subspecialization became more evident, I realized the value of obtaining fellowship training in a surgical subspecialty. For that reason I left the group in 2006 and returned to USC for an additional year of training focused solely on Colorectal Disease. I returned to Portland following and joined the oldest Colorectal surgical group in Portland working closely with other surgeons also highly trained and focused on only Colon/Rectal Surgery. My training and education as well as subsequent experience proved to be extremely beneficial and rewarding. In 2010, I was recruited to lead Legacy Health's Colon/Rectal Surgery program, with special interest in developing a program for screening, prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer. Legacy is keenly interested in supporting efforts to make an impact on cancer of all kinds through community outreach, education, research, and state of the art treatments. My current practice is focused principally on colorectal surgery, but also includes surgery of the abdomen in general. I also treat all types of anorectal complaints including hemorrhoids, and what is traditionally regarded as Proctology. Legacy provides me the opportunity to bring state of the art surgical care in an environment in which the individual patient still remains the focus. Hobbies include: Running, Hiking, Snowboarding

Patient Ratings and Comments

Legacy wants every patient to have great care, every time. To help measure and improve patient satisfaction, we send surveys to randomly selected patients after their appointments. We use this feedback from the surveys to improve and enhance the care we offer. It works like this: Real patients give us feedback through Press Ganey, a patient satisfaction survey company. They verify and confirm the results. National Research Corporation, an independent company, provides the technology to show the ratings and comments on our website
