To Legacy patients with UnitedHealthcare insurance (Oregon)
Dear Legacy Health Patient,
I am writing to share important information about your health insurance coverage. Legacy Health and UnitedHealthcare are currently negotiating revised contract terms that affect UnitedHealthcare Commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. These negotiations do not include Legacy Silverton Medical Center or Legacy Silverton clinics since they are covered under a separate contract with UnitedHealthcare.
Currently, Legacy Health remains in network to provide care for our UnitedHealthcare patients, and we do not expect UnitedHealthcare to make changes to your coverage or access to care. However, if a new contract is not reached by Sept. 30, 2026, Legacy Health will be out of network for our UnitedHealthcare patients beginning Oct. 1, 2026.
Over the past year, Legacy has been working diligently on your behalf with UnitedHealthcare to reach an updated contract that appropriately reflects the rising cost of providing care. Like healthcare systems nationwide and especially in Oregon, Legacy Health continues to face increasing labor and operating costs, as well as growing health insurance administrative expense burdens.
Unfortunately, UnitedHealthcare has not agreed to reimbursement terms that are necessary to help cover Legacy Health’s rising costs. We are seeking reasonable contract terms that support continued access to the physicians, hospitals and other vital healthcare services that our patients rely on.
Legacy issued a notice of termination to UnitedHealthcare to facilitate contract update discussions. While negotiations are ongoing, we remain committed to providing excellent care to our patients while achieving fair and appropriate reimbursement terms.
To keep you informed, Legacy will post updates and answers to frequently asked questions at legacyhealth.org/UnitedContract. If you have questions about your coverage or benefits, please contact UnitedHealthcare using the phone number on the back of your member ID card.
Thank you for trusting Legacy Health with your care. We value your trust and remain committed to providing the care that you and your family deserve and expect.
Sincerely,

Merrin Permut, MHA
Vice President and Chief Population Health Officer
Legacy Health
