Randall Children's Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (RCH IRP) is a special place. For children and adolescents impairments that make daily functions difficult, we offer not only excellent individual therapy and treatment, but perhaps something that's even more difficult: hope.
Our goal is to help kids achieve independence and develop skills for return to home, school and the community.
We realize this is a difficult time - as defficult as anything you have ever faced. You have a tremendous amount of work ahead. Be assured, however, that we are here to help.
Our team understands that children have different needs than adults, and all of our professionals are fully licensed, trained and experienced in pediatrics and pediatric rehabilitation. You and your child are also part of our team. We welcome your input and believe your child is best served by the information you can share with us. Our experience shows that the participation of families and caregivers as team members is vital to the level of success each child achieves.

Each child in our program has a private room. One to two adults are encouraged to stay with each child for most children. Sleeping provisions are available in the rooms. Unfortunately, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to stay overnight.
Your child will have therapies in our dedicated treatment rooms and gyms. A therapy pool is also available for kids who would benefit from aquatic therapy. Therapy times take place between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Sundays are typically a day of rest and time to connect with family.
A family lounge provides a refrigerator and microwave for family/caregiver food and a place to take a break. Our Resource Room provides access to online resources, and the Wellness Center gives caregivers the opportunity to stay active and healthy during their child's stay.
Information about location, dining, lodging and other hospital amenities can be found on Randall Children's Hospital's main page.
We request that visitors come after therapy times, generally after 5 pm.
Therapy sessions are essential to your child’s recovery; therefore, we ask visitors to call the nursing station at 503-276-9876 to see whether therapies are completed. Sleep is also important in your child's recovery. Visitors will need to limit their time so your child gets enough sleep. Please keep in mind your child may have some special needs when considering who may visit and how many people are able to visit at a one time. Please discuss visitation with your nurse or the rehabilitation team.
Hospital visitation policy limits visitors to 4 at a time. Visiting hours are from 9 am to 9 pm.
