Legacy Devers and Legacy Research Institute receive new NIH grant.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) notified Drs. Kinast and Mansberger that their grant proposal entitled, “The iDrop Device (iD2): A Smart Eye Drop Cap Monitor for Eye Drop Adherence” has been funded.

This $1.84 million 2-year grant will further develop a smart cap for eye drop bottles, which measures and improves eye drop adherence. This will transform the science of adherence from indirect methods to direct methods of measurement for diseases that require chronic eye drop treatment for eye diseases such as glaucoma, dry eyes, and corneal disease.

The Clinical Trials Center at Legacy Devers will recruit participants for the study. Stuart Gardiner, PhD at Discoveries in Sight at Legacy Research Institute will be the biostatistician for the project.
