We offer a free, comprehensive training program that includes information on symptom management, communication, family dynamics, grief, spiritual care, and body mechanics.

Pet Pals Program volunteers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the age requirement to volunteer?
Volunteers must be a minimum age of 16 to work in an office and 18 years for direct patient care.

What is the expected commitment for volunteers?
All volunteers are expected to make a one-year commitment to volunteer service. Patient care volunteers doing respite/friendly visitors go out once a week for up to 4 hours.

What is the process of becoming a volunteer?
Turn in an application. Schedule an online interview on Teams. Schedule an appointment with Employee Health. Do all assigned training materials and return required paperwork. Schedule a one on one on Teams and attend an in-person patient care day.

Do I need to be vaccinated?
Volunteers are required to be fully immunized against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TB and Hep B. *Formal vaccine declinations are offered and accepted through the Employee Health office*
