Unique and specialized care for Eating Disorders
A compassionate approach for children, teens and young adults
If your child suffers from an eating disorder, you can have peace of mind knowing that the specialists at Randall Children’s Hospital offer a unique and effective line of treatment.
We call it a “biopsychosocial” (biological, social and psychological) approach because it addresses the three factors that contribute to eating disorders. As the only treatment center in the Portland area to offer this approach, we are uniquely prepared to provide your child and your family with a compassionate and comprehensive opportunity for healing.
Being a child is not always easy. Social factors such as an obsession with body weight or body shape can cause unnecessary and unseen pressures. When combined with psychological factors and irregularities in brain chemistry, an eating disorder can arise. Young people with eating disorders can have a variety of symptoms, including the severe restriction of food, food binges or inappropriate purging behaviors like vomiting or over-exercising.
Our family-focused approach offers physical, mental and emotional support:
Our team of specially trained nurses, case managers, nutritionists and social workers collaborates with pediatric sub-specialists in endocrinology and cardiology. Working together, we help our young patients achieve personal healing and healthy lifestyle.
MyHealth gives you access to your child's medical records. View test results, diagnoses, medications, follow-up instructions, make an appointment, and more.
