Quality Corner: Resources for treating AFib
The “Don’t Miss a Beat: All Things AFib” Clinical Collaboration Series event was an opportunity for LHP members to hear from three LHP cardiologists about guidelines for the overall management of atrial fibrillation (AFib), as well as updates on current treatment approaches, emphasizing anti-coagulation and alternatives for anti-coagulation. This event was particularly timely because of the recent updates to society guidelines around Direct-Acting Oral Anti-Coagulants (DOAC).
Sandeep Garg, M.D., The Oregon Clinic, presented an Atrial Fibrillation Overview. Benjamin John, M.D., Vancouver Clinic, spoke about Stroke and Thromboembolism Protection in AFib. Manish Mehta, M.D., Legacy Medical Group–Cardiology, focused on Restoring Rhythm. Access all the presentations from this event on the LHP team site.
The session was well received by the 27 providers in attendance. They found the topic to be relevant and felt the presenters covered new information that would be helpful in their practices. As with other events, they particularly appreciated the question and answer time and the opportunity to engage with their peers.
