About Me:

Karen Winchester, M.D. of Eye Care Northwest has been practicing comprehensive ophthalmology in the Portland area for over 18 years, caring for people's eye heath, including routine eye exams and treating a wide variety of conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and macular degeneration. Dr. Winchester is a graduate of Amherst College, where she double majored in Philosophy and Russian. After graduation, she became head of the Russian Department at a Manhattan private school. "In my free time, I volunteered in the Children's Ward of Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center, and a light went on inside me. I had to become a doctor." Dr. Winchester enjoys yoga, hiking, biking and skiing with her family and has been on volunteer medical missions performing cataract surgery in Madurai, India and Mombasa, Kenya.
