About Me:
I was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Hillsboro (where my family still lives). I made my rounds around the Hillsboro school district, going at one time or another to Mooberry, Eastwood, Jackson, Evergreen, and Glencoe. I then turned "traitor" and went to college at the University of Washington and got a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, though I did most of my research in paleontology (dinosaurs!) and fell in love with East Asian and Northern European folklore. After college I spent a year at the Oregon National Primate Research Center and then went to medical school at the University of Virginia and decided to stay a bit longer in Virginia for my residency because I knew once I returned to Oregon that no one was going to pry me away again. I chose to go into family medicine because I enjoyed taking care of the full spectrum, from infants or geriatrics and getting to know patients as a person, not just a diagnosis, and how they feel about it, not just how I want to treat them. I also enjoy working the full scope of medicine from head to toe and working with illness as it affects the whole, not just the organ. I also have much experience from residency working around barriers to care such as cost, coverage, and distance for my patients to ensure they get good care. I plan on in my practice in addition to medicine doing small skin lesion removals, large joint injections (knee, shoulder), and gynecological exams, including IUD placement and removal. While in Virginia I was a member of the AAFP as well as the state Medical Society of Virginia and the local Lynchburg Academy of Medicine. I also enjoyed working in the free clinics in Lynchburg, Charlottesville, and Orange County, Virginia. Outside of medicine my interests include vertebrate paleontology, folklore, children's literature (something I picked up growing up in my mother's home child care), hiking, long cruises along beautiful scenic roads like Highway 101 and basketball. And while I enjoyed my time in Virginia and would not trade it away, after 7 years away from the Pacific Northwest I am happy to be returning to my home and setting up roots here all over again. Hobbies include: Hiking, Basketball, Sightseeing
