Who We Are

Clinical Pastoral Education

Legacy's clinical pastoral education program

Our program, accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), offers supervised training to laypersons, theological students and ministers of all faiths.

Our center

Legacy Health includes one quaternary and one tertiary hospital, a children's hospital, four community hospitals (including Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center in Clark County, Washington), a behavioral health hospital, a hospice agency, primary care clinics and specialty clinics. Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, the Legacy Oregon Burn Center, and Unity Center for Behavioral Health are the locations where the clinical pastoral education training takes place. These facilities offer a complete range of medical and surgical services, which include seven intensive care units, women's health, infant and children's health, and psychiatric services.

Legacy is in Portland, Oregon, considered one of the most livable mid-sized cities in the country. Located in northwest Oregon on the Willamette River, Portland is centrally located between snow-capped Mt. Hood, 60 miles to the east, and the Pacific Ocean, 60 miles to the west. Learn more.

Spiritual care team

Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and Randall Children's Hospital spiritual care team is comprised of chaplains who are Master's prepared, and have completed an ACPE residency. Our professional team of chaplains are either certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains (BCC) or by one of its cognate groups, or they are in the process of that certification.
