Requirements for privilege-specific education

Moderate and Deep Sedation Privileges

Legacy requires that all practitioners seeking moderate and deep sedation privileges to review the Legacy policy regarding procedural sedation. Providers are then required to take and pass an exam prior to these privileges being granting as part of the initial credentialing process. Practitioners may also have to take this exam as part of the reappointment process, if case volumes are not met. Med Staff Services will notify providers if this is necessary as part of their reappointment process.

To complete education requirements:

  • Review the policy document: Sedation Study Guide.
  • Then click on the Sedation exam link and complete the exam. You are required to successfully complete the exam with a passing score of 90% or higher. If you do not initially pass the exam, you are welcome to continue to re-take the exam.
  • Exam results will be provided directly to medical staff services as an indicator you completed this necessary step prior to granting these privileges.
  • Sedation exam self-selection
  • Take the Sedation exam.

Fluoroscopy Privileges

Legacy also requires all practitioners initially requesting fluoroscopy privileges to review the Archer & Wagner, Minimizing Risks from Fluoroscopic X-Rays (5th edition) and then to successfully complete the fluoroscopy exam prior to granting these privileges for all non-radiologists.

To complete education requirements:

  • Request the Fluoroscopy training materials from Legacy's System-wide Credentialing Verification Services (SCVS), or view the testing materials in E+ once you are assigned or self-select to take the exam.
  • Then click on the Fluoroscopy exam link and complete the exam. You are required to successfully complete the exam with a passing score of 80% or higher. If you do not initially pass the exam, you are welcome to continue to re-take the exam.
  • Exam results will be provided directly to medical staff services as an indicator you completed this necessary step prior to granting these privileges.
  • Fluoroscopy exam self-selection
  • Take the Fluoroscopy exam.
