Legacy Health implements new vaccine requirement policy
PORTLAND, ORE. – August 4, 2021 – At Legacy Health, our goal is to be the safest place to deliver and receive care. Since March of 2020, there have been incredible lessons learned about how we keep our patients, one another, and our community safe. The landscape of the pandemic is ever-changing, and we must adapt to it.
A key lesson is that we have the power to contain how COVID-19 spreads by following preventive measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A key recommendation of the guidelines is for all Americans over the age of 12 to receive the vaccine.
For the safety of our patients, our nearly 14,000 employees, providers, and our community, Legacy Health will require our employees, providers, on-site contractors, and volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as permitted by law. Adherence to the new policy is required by September 30, 2021.
Legacy’s unwavering commitment to safety, and the scientifically-based recommendations from the CDC, make this the right thing to do. The emergence and high transmissibility of the Delta variant, as well as the recent uptick in COVID-19 transmission in healthcare facilities, compel us to take action to contain this virus. Legacy Health has a moral imperative to protect our patients, our people, and our community.
Legacy Health is grateful to all who are already vaccinated. In addition to vaccines, we must continue our strict adherence to CDC and OSHA guidelines that include eye protection, appropriate masks/respirators, physical distancing, and regular hand washing.
