About Me:

Dr. Britta Ameel considers Oregon her adopted home. Having moved frequently as a child, she discovered this great state while studying at the Clarks Honors College at the University of Oregon, graduating with honors in Humanities. After college, Dr. Ameel taught English in France and obtained her Master of Fine Arts in Poetry at the University of Michigan. After working in the writing community for several years, she attended medical school at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), graduating with highest honors. She completed her residency in OB/GYN at OHSU, thereby solidifying her commitment to the women of this state. She provides culturally sensitive & comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic healthcare to women of all ages, with a specific interest in narrative medicine, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, adolescent gynecology, transgender care, and vulvar dermatoses. She lives in Portland with her partner and young daughter.

Dr. Ameel is an outstanding OB/GYN. She communicates everything extremely well, has a fantastic "bedside" manner, was very caring towards me both as her patient and as a human being. Terrific doctor and care. Would highly recommend.

Britta is amazing! I experienced a panic attack in the exam room and she helped me get through it and relax so I could complete my exam. She rocks!

I needed to have a visit to discuss a concern that had arisen during treatment of a medical problem. I used Legacy Health app and was answered quickly by the assistant. Due to ice storms the appointment had to be rescheduled three times. Each time Dr Ameel was making extra efforts to see me as there were possible complications with my issue. I felt communication was exceptional, concern for my issue was obvious. She's a great doctor and she has a team that allows her focus on her care.

A very routine visit with nothing complicated about it but I felt so at ease with Dr Ameel at this, my first visit. While I don't anticipate needing much regular care from her, I'm grateful to have her on my care team.

The nurse was excellent and remembered me and even the details of my previous visits. She has always remained professional and knowledgeable about her duties, and I feel like I'm in good hands at this clinic.The doctor was also very helpful and had effective communication skills in answering questions and explaining procedures.I feel better about my women's health after this appointment.
