About Me:
Dr. Batiuk joined Legacy Health in 2004. He received his medical degree from the University of Alberta in 1985. Next, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, followed by a Nephrology Fellowship in 1988-1990. Dr. Batiuk's Transplant Medicine Fellowship was completed at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He then returned to the University of Alberta where he received his PhD in 1996. Prior to joining Legacy Transplant, he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) School of Medicine. While in Indianapolis, he ran a research laboratory studying the effects of immunosuppressant drugs, participated in the kidney, pancreas and liver transplant programs and was Chief of Nephrology at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. He has published numerous scientific papers involving both basic science and applied clinical aspects of immunosuppression and transplantation.
