The basics

  • The intestines are left in original state and not rearranged.

How it works

  • Restricts how much you can eat at one time
  • Makes you feel full with less food.
  • Less ghrelin (the hormone that causes hunger) is produced

Benefits 

  • Average weight loss is 50–55% of excess body weight.
  • Less likely than gastric bypass to have ulcers or develop a bowel blockage.

Risks 

Risks include, but not limited to:

  • Heartburn
  • Scarring
  • Long-term weight loss is unknown
  • Death
