Chief Resident
Dr. Ryota Shimada, MD, PhD
Dr. Ryota “Yoda” Shimada was born and raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, San Diego, followed by MD/PhD training at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Dr. Shimada completed his internal medicine residency at Legacy Salmon Creek in 2026. Outside of his medical practice, he enjoys spending quality time with his daughter and they enjoy playing soccer, skiing, and cooking together. He also enjoys exploring the diverse culinary scenes of Vancouver, Portland and beyond. Professionally, his interests include next-generation sequencing applications, the integration of technology in clinical practice, and medical education.
