Network Spotlight: Improving imaging access at Legacy Health
Legacy is actively enhancing the imaging ordering process to improve speed, clarity, and access for both providers and patients. Our focus is on making ordering more efficient, reducing unnecessary delays, and ensuring patients can be scheduled as quickly as possible across our imaging network.
What’s changing
- New technology partnerships:
- Humata Health – helping automate prior authorization workflows
- Notable Health – improving faxed order intake and patient communication
- Cleaner, more effective ordering system: Removed more than 6,000 non-specific ICD-10 codes to improve clarity and usability (effective May 18)
- Improved access across Legacy: Advancing toward scheduling patients at any Legacy imaging location
More specific imaging orders
We’ve introduced more detailed imaging orderables aligned with clinical indications to support more accurate ordering. These enhancements will:
- Support ordering the correct exam the first time
- Reduce follow-up and clarification requests
- Provide clearer clinical direction for technologists
- Improve overall efficiency and throughput
How you can help
Please include:
- Clear clinical indication
- Specific exam selection
- CPT code (when applicable)
- Completed prior authorization (if required)
- Physician signature/NPI
Tip: When possible, select the most targeted exam aligned to the clinical question (e.g., targeted vs. general ultrasound).
“OK to Change per Protocol”
You may now include “OK to change per protocol” on your orders. This allows imaging teams to:
- Adjust exams according to clinical guidelines
- Minimize back-and-forth communication
- Keep patients moving through the process without delay
Supporting faster access for patients
These improvements are designed to reduce rework, streamline workflows, and help patients access imaging services sooner.
We appreciate your partnership in making these enhancements successful.
